En general es un buen libro. Su mayor virtud radica en la síntesis de la información disponible sobre algunas operaciones de inteligencia soviética en México. Sin embargo, la mayoría de los datos proviene de libros de otros autores escritos en inglés. El texto contiene muy poca información inédita. Además, a manera de relleno contiene un capítulo sobre la operación para filtrar información a Moscú sobre el Proyecto Manhattan, el cual francamente está de más. Faltó también consultar los archivos de los servicios de Inteligencia en México de la época, los cuales son públicos desde hace tiempo.

El autor nos obsequió antes un recuento de la presencia nazi en México, obra muy superior a la que nos ocupa ahora, tal vez por la presencia de múltiples personajes de la vida nacional en aquellos años. Esta obra, en cambio, es más monotemática y por momentos se aleja de la geografía nacional para concentrarse más en la actuación y destino de los personajes que participaron en la conspiración para asesinar a Trotski que, al final, es de lo que trata realmente el libro. Sin embargo, resulta interesante y viene a cubrir un espacio poco abordado en la historia de México.

Making a dense subject more complicated than it has to be

I'm just finishing up my 2nd semester of PLC class using this book as our textbook. So, I and my classmates have spent a good deal of time trying to learn PLCs with this book as our primary reference text. In that time we've found several mistakes in the book and I've noticed that the index often lists the 1st mention of a topic but not any further instances of when the topic comes up later in the book. This is really unfortunate because often it's the 2nd or 3rd instance of a topic coming up that really has the most comprehensive description of the topic. For quickly looking up programming instructions, this flaw in the index makes it very hard to use, even though there's often more data in the book than is at first evident.
While Morriss goes into detail about many common and some obscure programming instructions relating to popular PLCs by Allen Bradley, Siemens and Omron there's very little that would help a novice really appreciate just what all a PLC can do. For an introductory text, I feel that there are probably lots of better choices. Advanced users probably won't find too much here that they haven't already encountered elsewhere. Where this book does fit in, is as a kind of intermediary text for the person who is already familiar with PLCs but wants to know specific addressing of commands relating to a handful of very common PLCs.As such, it's probably a pretty decent book. It's clear that Morriss knows a lot about his subject, but he has a hard time conveying that knowledge to folks just beginning to learn about PLC capabilities. Where I really found the book lacking was in communicating when, and under what circumstances various commands would be desireable to use. If this book had a re-write with more clear examples, more relation to problem solving and a much more comprehensive index, it would be much easier to use and understand.

Jen Just got hired into an office job an employee to Jack Kemble and she is like the ugly swan in this office place cause she is poor, wears the same outfit every other day and the whole place frowns on that including the boss. So Jack takes her out shopping for over a months worth of outfits and also takes her out for a drink after wards and they get into real serious talk and she tells him that she is a lesbian. Through out the story Jack and Jen get closer and she goes with him on many business trips. Towards the end Jack is trying to get close to her but Jen just throws him aside for plans with friends but in reality shes home watching movies and eating ice cream until one Friday night Jack has it and goes to her apartment and ends up kissing Jen. Jack finds out she is no lesbian and he wants her. He invites her to a masked ball at the end of this story, gives her a ticket, $1000, gown place to be fitted and told her to be there or he will no longer giver her the time of day. It was good but way to short so now I have to get the others to find out want really happens.

My only complaint is that it is short. But on the other hand that's not always a bad thing. It was a quick but exciting read. The author is very talented.

One thousand words is not enough to review this book. Conversely the book defines one thousand words...and more. If you are interested in words and their origins, peoples names and what the names mean, you will find this book difficult to put down. Read it, if you can find it.

Definitely Interesting

There are a lot interesting facts concerning all different languages, words and phrases; while it is very interesting it really bothers me that none of it is cited. This book is authored by Charles Berlitz, so maybe, since he is an authority on language he doesn't need to cite his work, but it would have been nice. Either way it's an engaging read, however, I wouldn't go around quoting it without backing up some of the statements with a source to confirm them.
