Symbolism is one of those schools of poetry that seems to fallen out of favor. Baudelaire's own particular brand is harsh, revolutionary, and sensual. This is not frilly love poetry but the work of a great decadent of mid-nineteenth century France. While much is lost in translation, his poetry still rings quite powerfully and is as relevant today as it ever will be. This is one of the books that helped found later surrealist movements along with the work of Rimbaud and Marquis De Sade. A great beautiful book dealing with the great temptations and filth of existence, in essence that which brings on evil.

Leakey was for many years the doyen of English speaking critics of Baudelaire (his Collected Essays and book on Baudelaire and Nature are essential reading for scholars). This is not an introduction for readers just coming to Baudelaire. Rather, it is in some ways an abridged version of some of his other work, and the reader should have already had a reading of Les Fleurs du Mal under her or his belt. The first section is not where I would start, as it gives an exhaustive review of how the published text was put together in its various versions, which is important for a structural recognition of how different poems lead into and away from each other, but for the reader who is captivated by the power of individual poems (most people, let's face it), this editorial work isn't immediately enticing. The chapter on Baudelaire's craft is exemplary; but the prize of the book is a close reading of Le Cygne which is a classic (and adapted from his famous essay on the same topic).

Disappointed! Overstretched on one single theme & with little substance

It's a tough task to write a review for this book. Except it's strong emphasis against herb/consensus investing (but the author didnt tell the way to do contrarian investing at all), I really cant write a summary of what I had learnt from it as I normally did for my other reviews because there's little substance at all. I dont query how elite a FX trader the author is. However, as a trading book lover and a pro trader, I am obliged to warn potential buyers of the bad writing and presentation skill, repetitiveness of one same well acknowledged message and simply uselessness of it. I seldom rate a trading book one star, but this one well deserves it.

p.s. In case you really want to read something really "warrior trading" relevant, I would like to recommend "Way of Warrior Trader: The Financial Risk-Taker's Guide to Samurai Courage, Confidence and Discipline by Richard D. Arrogance, fluff and wasted paper

Trying to read this book (and I use that term generously) was like trying not to throw up after binge eating and drinking then taking a long boat ride in stormy weather.

I don't even know what to describe about this book except to say it is contrived, snobby and forced. A lot of anger and little substance.

Trading in the Zone: Master the Market with Confidence, Discipline and a Winning Attitude by Mark Douglas is the best choice for you.

If I had bought this book, I would be using it for toilet paper right now. Thankfully, my local library spared me spending one single penny on this.
