Battle with Islamic nations amply predicted

I bought this book last year, and amongst the things that impressed me, was the large amount of predictions of battles between the Arabic/Islamic nations and the West. That was last year...
I recommend this book, because of the author's serious and scholarly approach to Nostradamus. The author takes great pains to explain HOW and WHY he translates the old and peculiar French used by Nostradamus, and the geography of his times (when the U.S.A. didn't even exist yet), to the current day. The author also never denies the difficulty of interpreting.
In summary, I liked the book, because it takes translating and interpreting Nostradamus serious.
However, do we have the stomach for what lies ahead according to these predictions...? But wasn't the Apocalypse, to which reference is made in the title, written at least a thousand years before, in the Bible? And in many other religous texts, even the Koran, for that matter?
So why are we still surprised?

Good materials ... Just a little indescriptive.

Perhaps if I were to read this prior to reading Erika Cheetham's book on Nostradamus: The Final Prophecies, I would have given this a 5-star review. However, this book lacks the translation fluidly given and found in Erika's book on the same subject. I had to put this book down as I was looking for more analysis of the gifted foreseer. Of course without God Nostradamus would never have the gift to foresee the troubles ahead and currently manifesting right before our eyes.

Very helpful for international law professionals

As a law student who argued at international law moot courts and judged international law moot court practices, this book is invaluable. It has all of the necessary treaties, conventions, and law relevant and typical in almost any situation. Easy reference and is a lot neater than a binder full of those sources - as I previously used.

The tale recounts the visit to Earth of a being from a planet circling the star Sirius, and of his companion from the planet Saturn.Micromégas is an inhabitant of one of the planets that orbits Sirius. His home world is 21.6 million times greater in circumference than the Earth. Micromégas stands 20,000 feet tall. When he is almost 450 years old, approaching the end of his infancy, Micromégas writes a scientific book examining the insects on his planet, which at 100 feet are too small to be detected by ordinary microscopes. This book is considered heresy, and after a 200-year trial, he is banished from the court for a term of 800 years. Micromégas takes this as an incentive to travel around the Universe in a quest to develop his intellect and his spirit.
His first stop is Saturn, where he befriends the secretary of the Academy of Saturn, a man less than a third of his size (a “dwarf” standing only 6,000 feet tall). They discuss the differences between their planets. The Saturnian has 72 senses; the Sirian has 1,000. The Saturnian lives for 15,000 Earth years; the Sirian lives for 10.5 million years. At the end of their conversation, they decide to take a philosophical journey together.
Eventually, they arrive on Earth and circumnavigate it in 36 hours, with the Saturnian only getting his lower legs wet in the deepest ocean and the Sirian barely wetting his ankles. They decide that the planet must be devoid of life, since it is too small for them to see with the naked eye. In the Baltic Sea, the Saturnian happened to spot a tiny speck swimming about, and he picks it up to discover that it is a whale. As they examine it, a boatful of philosophers returning from an Arctic voyage happens to run aground nearby.
The travellers examine the boat and, upon discovering the lifeforms inside it, they conclude that the tiny beings are too small to be of any intelligence or spirit. Yet they gradually realize the beings are speaking to each other, and they devise a hearing tube with the clippings of their fingernails in order to hear the tiny voices. After listening for a while, they learn the human language and begin a conversation, wherein they are shocked to discover the breadth of the human intellect.

Warren has taught classes on spirits and cocktails all over the world, including an advanced class on rum at the Moscow Bar Show. He's taught the fine art of social media and food writing at the New School in New York as well as classes on creative cocktails and mocktails at Stonewall Kitchen in Maine.

I bought the book at a book signing. It's my 3rd in his wonderful books. The recipes aren't that difficult to reproduce and they taste amazing. Once you get the essentials, you'll only need only a few things from grocery or near by liquor store. Its well worth investment. Can't wait for the 4th book.

This is the third in a series of wonderful cocktail books from Warren Bobrow. Each volume is filled with informative, historical, and entertaining prose, captivating pictures, and unique recipes. I really love the smaller size of the book and the spiral binding as it's easy to have this open on the counter while I'm mixing things up. This edition highlights the history and usage of bitter potions both potable and non as well as those vinegary shrubs that give pop to a drink. Lots of tasty recipes and DIY tips makes this book an essential for the home enthusiast or professional. Highly recommended!

Good for its Purpose

I found this review of Clean Gut to be an objective and helpful, if fairly simplified, synopsis of the original. I appreciated the additions too, including some reviews of Jungers book from respected food and health blogs, a 'key terms' section at the end to demystify some of the language, and even more suggestions for further reading. I thought this shorter version of Clean Gut does it's job well; concepts are made accessible to a general dilettant of the food-cleansing world and overall, enough concise information is provided for the reader to determine which concepts to follow up with (Dr. Junger's background? Physiology of gut dysfunction? Recipes for simpler eating and digestion?) and whether to invest in a copy of Clean Gut itself.

Good way to learn about Clean Gut fast

The 30 minute expert guide to Clean Gut is a great way to get up to speed, fast, on clean foods and detox eating. Dr. Junger has been everywhere on TV discussing his highly influential new dietary philosophy. The kicker of course is that it's not "new," but an understanding of the functioning and evolution of our "gut," or alimentary system. "Clean Gut... in 30 Minutes" gives a crisp and concise overview of Dr. Junger's history and clean eating advice. This book is perfect for someone who wants to understand the basics of the whole clean gut and detox philosophy before diving into the program. The glossary at the end is especially helpful for those of us who don't have a great memory of high school biology.

Save your money for the long version.

For the money, you might as well get the book of which this is a summary. The diet itself was phenomenal for its results and now I'm sorry I didn't buy the book with more recipes. I may still order it. The best information I got on this diet otherwise was an article in Women's World that had a recipe for a soup that is a wonderful "fall-back" meal and is very comforting.

A must read book !!

This is a must read book. This a true story with the real peoples names. You must read to find out what happens.

Who Were the Bigger Criminals?

If you happened to be taking a late evening stroll on the night of March 24, 1972 in Laguna Niguel, California, you might have walked past two of the most brilliant, most fearsome, and most elusive bank burglars in all of U.S. history. On that very evening, Amil Dinsio and his brother James were crouching in the bushes on a hill just above the United California Bank. Later, after the grocery and drug stores closed, after the bank’s cleaning crew left, they would break into the heart of the bank — the vault — on a mission to steal thirty million dollars belonging to President Nixon. Then for the “cherry on top,” they would loot as many of the personal safety deposit boxes that they could in order to take jewelry, rare coins, bonds, and other valuables they could sell.

The Dinsio brothers had been successfully burglarizing hundreds of banks since they were teens. No one had been able to figure out how they got past the security systems and into the vaults. They were masters at their craft and proud of it. Now for the first time, Amil Dinsio tells all.

“When this is all over, I’ll give you a story. I’ll give you a real story,” Dinsio said to the media back in 1972. The story is now here. You won’t be disappointed. All the details are in this riveting and quick-to-read book. He even includes a detailed illustration showing exactly how they bypassed banks’ alarm systems. At the back are the actual photographs of Amil and James, the ladder going up to the alarm bell, the hole they blasted into the vault, the open safety deposit boxes, and Amil Dinsio’s lovely wife and daughters.

The author also provides a fascinating look inside the mindset of bank burglars. Their justification for stealing Tricky Dick’s money—as well as other banks’ money and the belongings of private citizens—is all explained. He also reveals how they hid the stolen money, and how they were able to spend it without getting caught.

But there’s more to the story. Dinsio and his crew are not the only criminals. What the FBI did to track them down is every bit as devious, dishonest, and illegal. Dinsio challenges you to read the story and then decide for yourself who are the bigger criminals.

I highly recommend this book for an engrossing and spellbinding look into a slice of American history.

They got Nixon, right before Watergate.

I received this as a free ebook in return for writing a frank review.

This was an interesting, but not necessarily a good book. More of a how-to-do it, without really explicit details, it had no real sense of adventure, tension or mystery running throughout. But I always like to read about a real life crime, especially when murder is not the only anchor. I had the feeling that the author did not really have much literary help in writing this book, but he still did a decent job recounting how he, his brother and a group of guys from Cleveland burglarized a small, strip mall bank that appeared to be a prime, susceptible target. As I read this, I often thought about just how predisposed other banks, whether they be big or small, are constructed to protect people’s savings. I have not heard of a bank burglary in a real long time, but I often here of robbery-stickups almost on a regular basis. The guys who pull those types of jobs are often desperate, have no substantive plan and are often caught virtually quickly and nearby their target.

The fact that this story centered on the theft of Nixon’s personal funds of 12 million dollars was the cherry on top of this heisting tale. I enjoyed this, but it is a book that will evaporate from my mind rather quickly. I would rate this 3 solid stars.
